😥indeed....”Human connection costs us nothing, but means everything to those with so little to call their own.”

very said and we always remember Chris's smile and yes, "Human connection costs us nothing, but means everything to those with so little to call their own."

R.I.P. -- Chris Lacaze --

Thank you for posting this. Chris was my dear friend and I really miss him. His tribute at the community breakfast has stayed with me and it makes it a little easier knowing how loved and respected he was in the community.

Every soul has a story.
Great things can happen when great ideas and stories are shared! The Coffee BOX Listeners is launching this October, during Mental Health Month. "The idea is that ordinary people meet and share with other people, breaking down isolation, loneliness and sharing our humanity” explains Lisa Apostolides, Director of Byron Youth Theatre and one of the program coordinators.

Lisa, along with Cherie Bromley, Community Programs Manager, Pippy Wardell, Volunteer Hub Co-ordinator, Anna Parker, Communication Coach and Margie O’Sullivan, Counsellor will be coordinating the program by offering a Deep Listening training session at the Community Centre on Thursday 27th September from 2pm - 3.30pm.

Every Thursday in October from 10am - 12pm, trained volunteers will be at the Coffee BOX to listen to whoever wants to come and share. The Coffee BOX is located next to the Post Office on Jonson St, Byron Bay. We encourage you all to buy a cuppa to help support the local initiative and you can also buy a “pay-it-forward” cuppa for those who cannot afford one.

To register your interest please complete a volunteers application online at www.byroncentre.com.au or call 6685 6807 or visit the Community Centre between 10- 4pm, Monday to Fridays. In this training, Anna Parker and Margie O’Sullivan, will present useful tips for becoming a listener as you share a cuppa at the Coffee Box.
