Sounds of the Soul - Byron BayFebruary 17, 2018, 6:00pmOcean Shores Public SchoolJess Morwood, founder of Jeevan School is touring Aus with the help of SCOOP AUSTRALIA, an NGO sponsoring schools in both India and Cambodia, to raise funds to help the kids in Varanasi. Three events are being held in Melbourne, Perth & the Byron Bay Shire.
Jeevan Project in Varanasi, India is a not for profit organisation giving free education, food, medical assistance and pure love to marginalised children coming from nearby begging families and migrant workers. What started as ten students and one teacher under a tree in 2003 is now a full study centre with 170 students, a clinic and children's home to 30 from the most extreme poverty. Our children suffer from neglect, abuse, malnutrition and fetal alcohol effect, sixty percent of them being 'special needs'.
Through yoga, music, dance, martial arts and full educational support we do our best to raise these young women and men to be strong and confident.
At the beginning of this year Jeevan School witnessed it's first ever Graduate of high school who has now started teachers college. Maya is the first girl from her tribe ever to study, ever to graduate.

* With many thanks, Ocean Shores Primary School are sistering up to support, as we invite you to a magical evening of heart felt music with live performances by some super great local musicians, along side Jess.
Jess will also be giving a small talk about the school.
