So great to see everything growing at The Gardens!

Will try and come and help next time I am down there.

Looking good

..-\\ Ben’s passion firmly grounded in Byron //-..
"My overarching goal is to rescue, educate, relocate and conserve the indigenous stingless bee populations within the local community.” says Ben Treadaway.

• Ben was behind Sydney Native Bees evolution from early on. He helped create, support, rescue & educate our local community here in Sydney, before moving to the Byron Shire under a year ago.
Since then, Ben has rescued three native bee nests & recently relocated one to the Ocean Shores Community Garden & donated another to the local Kindergarten. •

"An important part of this process involves educating local tree loppers, including information such as the appropriate spot to cut the tree in order to save the colony, in addition to the process of safely relocating the colony to places of educational and community significance." says Ben about his volunteer conservation work.

• Carmine from Tallow Tree Services gave Ben a call & used their machinery and time to ensure the native bee hive was removed safely so that it could be transferred to the Ocean Shores Community Garden.
‘It was wonderful to observe the many people within the community who were willing to donate their time to help out and make this happen,’ says Ben.

The project will include: 10 x Community Planting days, 4 x Workshops - beekeeping, planting nectar gardens and habitat, beneficial insects and Integrated Pest Management.
